Privacy Notice

This notice explains what personal data TheSalaryBenchmark collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the service needs, and we never sell your personal data.

01Who we are

TheSalaryBenchmark ("we", "us") provides salary benchmarks, distributions and offer analysis derived from real job postings. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question, contact support@thesalarybenchmark.com.

02Data we collect

• Account data — your name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store your password in readable form).
• Billing data — your plan, credit balance and order history. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
• Usage data — the searches and benchmarks you run, and your credit usage, so we can provide the service and enforce plan limits.
• Technical data — your IP address, used to apply free-tier search limits to anonymous visitors and to protect against abuse, plus basic request logs.
• Communications — email you send us, and our transactional emails to you (verification, password reset, receipts).

03How we use your data

• To create and operate your account, authenticate you, and remember your session.
• To provide search credits, process purchases, and send transactional email.
• To enforce free-tier limits, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
• To respond to your requests and support enquiries.

We rely on the lawful bases of performing our contract with you (running the service you signed up for), our legitimate interests (security and service improvement), and, where required, your consent.

04Cookies & sessions

We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. It is HttpOnly and same-site, and it exists only to operate the service. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our emails do not embed tracking pixels.

05International transfers

Your data is stored and processed in the United States, and may be processed in other regions by the infrastructure vendors we use to run the service. Where data moves between regions, appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) apply.

06Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active, and as needed to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data except where we must retain limited records (for example, proof of a transaction).

07Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can request to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@thesalarybenchmark.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

08Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls and least-privilege service credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond promptly to any incident.

09Children

The service is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date; continued use after changes means you accept the updated notice.
